In the African country of Nigeria, gunmen attacked a village and beheaded 43 farmers working in the fields. According to the International News Agency, 43 people were beheaded in an attack by gunmen in the village of Kwashebe in the Nigerian state of Borno, while 6 villagers managed to escape with serious injuries and 8 are missing. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but a military official involved in the relief effort told the media that such operations are carried out by Boko Haram. Also last month, Boko Haram attacked farmers working in a field in the MAIDGURI area, killing 22 farmers. Commanders of local armed groups have accused Boko Haram of killing farmers, fishermen and weightlifters by calling them informants. Clashes between Boko Haram and local armed groups have been raging in the area for years.
