Berlin … News Time

Germany bans Muslim aid organization for aiding terrorists. Interior Minister Horst Seehofer announced the imposition of sanctions on Ansaar International, based in Duesseldorf, on suspicion. He said the group was allegedly funding al-Shabab in Somalia and Hamas in the Palestinian territories. Interior Ministry spokesman Steve Alter wrote in a tweet that the network finances terrorism around the world. Steve Alter quoted Interior Minister Horst Seehofer as saying that if you want to fight terrorism, you have to cut off the organization’s financial resources. According to news agencies, a Muslim aid organization based in Duesseldorf, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has been accused of supporting the Al-Nusra Front, which is active in Syria, and Hamas in the Palestinian territories. And in Somalia, al-Shabab is involved in funding.

10 of Germany’s 16 states are Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, North Rhine and North Rhine. Police conducted operations in Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Hesse on Wednesday morning. The raids targeted 90 people, half of them in North Rhine-Westphalia. In North Rhine-Westphalia, security forces searched buildings during raids and claimed to have found extremist material.

It is to be noted that the operation to ban this organization started in 2019, when there were large-scale raids against the Ansaar International network. The banned organization Ansaar International helps people in need at home and abroad, and its projects continue in Lebanon, Sudan and the Palestinian territories. The German Interior Ministry alleges that in some cases the organization provided funding for aid projects that were directly linked to terrorist organizations.
