After investigating the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims the launches of a court martial for soldiers

Yangon… News Time

The Myanmar military launched an extraordinary court martial against the Rohingya Muslims after investigating the atrocities committed during the crackdown on Muslims. Millions of Rohingya neighbors were forced to immigrate to Bangladesh as a result of a crackdown by Myanmar’s army in August 2017, a British news agency reported. UN investigators condemned the genocide as a punishment. Soldiers, policemen and people in the Buddhist countryside in Rakhine state of Myanmar have been accused of terrorizing, killing and gang-raping Rohingya Muslims, due to which hundreds of cows were destroyed.

Myanmar, on the other hand, says its army was crackdown on a legal campaign against militants attacking security posts.

Myanmar spokesman Zaw Min Tun told Reuters by telephone that regiment officers and soldiers stationed in Gu Dar Pyin villages could not fully comply with the rules of the campaign. In addition, in a statement released on the website, Myanmar’s military said that soldiers who were court-martialed were involved in accidents involving Gu Dar Pyin cows.

The American News Agency Associated Press (AP) reported the presence of at least 5 mass graves in the villages through interviews with survivors in refugee camps in Bangladesh, and mobile phone videos of the time were also reported. Myanmar, however, dismissed the allegations made in the AP report. Be aware that Myanmar is facing global pressure on the unjust treatment of Rohingya Muslims, and cases have been filed against it in courts around the world. Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, will leave for a hearing at the World Court of Justice in December. On November 11, Gambia filed an inquiry against Myanmar over alleged genocide against the Muslim minority in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). A few days later, the International Criminal Court (ICC) approved a prosecution application in Myanmar to investigate humanitarian crimes against Rohingya Muslims.

Remember that in 2017 in Rakhine state of Myanmar, Muslims and local extremists suffered the worst atrocities against Muslims. After that, Rohingya minority neighbors were forced to migrate to Bangladesh. Later, other world powers, including the United Nations, called the Myanmar process genocide, and the government’s military was involved. Following the investigation by the Myanmar government, several generals and others were also convicted in Rakhine for admitting to such crimes.
