Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan fired military chief Onik Gasparyan on charges of sedition. Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said that what was happening in the country was considered a military coup. According to international media, the Armenian army had earlier demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister, after which the government and the military leadership came face to face. The military chief blamed Azerbaijan for the defeat, blaming the prime minister for the defeat. He said that Nikol Pashinyan did not take a firm stand on the issue of national integrity in war situations. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said in his statement that the military rejects every attempt at a coup. The army chief has been fired and his replacement will be announced soon. It should be noted that after the defeat of Azerbaijan in November last year and the signing of the peace agreement by the Armenian Prime Minister, the protesters had demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister. The agreement with Azerbaijan ended the Armenian-backed separatists’ occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh. Earlier, Armenia occupied the Shusha region of Azerbaijan in 1992 and expelled Muslims.
